Who are we? About Us? Always hated this part…
For starters, we are extremely proud to say this line is created for them and with them, because without them we would be nothing. This line is dedicated to our children.
Bad Girlfriend Clothing, this is not a lifestyle, at least not one we made by choice. With a day job to maintain your financial responsibilities to your kids, not to mention the part-time job to cover the daycare while you’re at your day job, and every minute of your free time consumed by diapers and dishes, laundry and legos. Good girlfriend material we were not.
We are best friends, two moms with our families, our struggles, our lives in common, and we were done being statistics. We decided to take our passion for art, creation, and rock ‘n’ roll, plus the help of an unsuccessful “kids need new clothes but Moms got no money!” shopping trip and just make our dreams come true.
We’ll make our own clothes! What could be better, right?
Sure, we had no capital, no experience, and no clue where to start. But we had our babies and they wanted shirts with guitars and angel wings. And after hours of scouring through every metal rack and fake wooden shelving unit overflowing with the clothing we could actually afford, primary colors and prints composed of dinosaurs and basketballs, frilly bows, and the occasional butterfly made out of pink and purple hearts, we’d had enough.
We went home and started drawing. Each design created between cooking dinner, brushing teeth, 1st grade math and the daily chore board.
Oh and did we mention we’re donating some to PAWS Chicago, the city’s largest no-kill shelter? After all of our struggles to survive, we figured we were obligated to help somehow. And how can you resist the face of some poor doggie that got left all alone to fend for themselves. Although it’s a struggle to not adopt each one ourselves, it is extremely satisfying to watch them slobber profusely on their new owner and know you helped make that happen. (Plus now we have an excuse to make clothes to match our kids AND our pups!)
So… who are we, well, we’re not really sure yet. Guess we are whatever you make of us. We can tell you what we are not; we are not savvy business women. We are not ruthless sales women; we are not top marketing execs. We’re not even college graduates. We’re not celebrities or supermodels. We’re not rich, or pampered, or perfect. We don’t have wonderful stories of courage and bravery. We do not have 8 kids we gave birth to all at once or twin sisters that we will have threesomes with on reality tv. We’re not even actually bad girlfriends (ALL the time!) We are real, we have virtues, we have faults, we have our babies, and we have heart.
